Nadab

Nay´dab

The firstborn son of Aaron and Elisheba and the brother of Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar (Exod 6:23). As sons of the priest descended from Levi, the four were trained and ordained to be priests as well (Exod 28:1). Nadab and Abihu seem to constitute a pair distinct from the other brothers (Exod 24:1; Exod 9-11:1); they eventually sealed their doom by offering “unholy fire” to the Lord and were consumed by divine fire (Lev 10:1-2), leaving Eleazar and Ithamar to serve as priests with their father (Num 3:4).
