Klaw´dee-uhs; 10 BCE–54 CE

The fourth Roman emperor; he assumed power following Gaius Caligula’s assassination (41 CE). Though generally conciliatory toward the Jews, he expelled some from Rome because of rioting (Acts 18:3).
