Jordan

Johr´duhn

River, the, a river that runs from north of the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea. When the Israelites crossed this river after the death of Moses, they entered into the promised land (Josh 3-4; Deut 3:20; Deut 3:25; Deut 3:27). It was also here that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist (Matt 3:6; Mark 1:5; John 1:28; John 3:26).
