In biblical usage, the color of the earth from which Adam was made (Gen 2:7); the letters for “Adam” in Hebrew can also mean “ruby,” and “dust” can also mean “reddish in color”), the color of Esau at birth (Gen 25:25), the color of pottage (Gen 25:30), drunken eyes (Gen 49:12), cattle (Num 19:2), blood (2Kgs 3:22), weeping faces (Job 16:16), wine (Prov 23:31), sin (Isa 1:18), clothing (Isa 63:1-2), horses (Zech 1:8; Zech 6:2), threatening skies (Matt 16:3), and the apocalyptic dragon (Rev 12:3).
