Thes´uh-luh-ni´kuh

A city in Macedonia (modern Thessaloniki), located at the head of the Thermaic Gulf. In the NT, Thessalonica is referred to exclusively in connection with the missionary activities of the apostle Paul (cf. Acts 17:1-13; Acts 20:4; Acts 27:2; 1Thess; 2Thess; Phil 4:16; 2Tim 4:10).
